The Legend of Orval Shaw - The Bandit of Skunk's Misery

Orval Shaw Book to be Released in Fall of 2024

The story of Orval Shaw,  the "Bandit of Skunk's Misery" (an area between Bothwell and Newbury Ontario) and his escapades with the police in the 1920's should be a Hollywood movie. How a petty thief, had the largest police manhunt in Ontario's history at the time after him, makes for a legendary story!

I first heard about the Orval Shaw about 10 years ago while researching local history topics in  Cambridge and Guelph Ontario. Over the next few years Orval's name came up again. His name was linked to events in over 50 cities and towns in Ontario.

One of the largest challenges in doing a book from the 1920's is finding enough information. So it took me three years, to get enough information to put out the book. This book is a chronological review of all the information I could find on Orval Shaw. One interesting piece of archival material included in the 150 page book is the actual 47 page 1929 criminal case file from the Attorney General of Ontario.

I am hoping to do the book release sometime in the fall at the Jim Kish theatre in the historic Bothwell Townhall. Stay tuned to my Facebook authors page or website for details when they become available.
