Breaking the Cell Phone Addiction - Step 1

cell phone addiction
It is estimated that 6% of the population are addicted to their cell phones.

Okay you have admitted you have a problem, the cell phone has taken over your life and actually controls and influences how you behave. But how can you reduce your addiction to the cell phone? Step 1 is a hard first step but if you are successful, has meaningful positive health effects.

Step 1 - Do Not Take Your Cell Phone in the Bedroom

As soon as you take your phone into the bedroom, you eliminate the chance to wind down, relax and have a decent deep uninterupted sleep. Further the blue lights from cell phone are known to mimic daylight and throw off your body from shutting down as it naturally would.

What I did, was put my charger in my office. Then before I go to bed, I bring the phone to my office and plug it in and leave it there all night. That way it is not in my bedroom.

Do Not Switch your Cell Phone for another Electronic Device in the Bedroom

I have a small Samsung tablet beside my bed. I do use it for my online research. Unfortunately. it has most of the features my phone has. You are defeating the purpose of not having your cell phone in your room at night if you still use your tablet there.

The solution is not to bring any electronic devices in your bedroom. You will sleep well and feel so much better. Imagine having a space where nobody can contact you, and you can just relax. Your bedroom can be your safe space. Now is your chance - keep the phone out of your room at night. It is difficult but the rewards are worth the effort.
